Bumblefoot without scab?

Gypsytumbleweed, could you please share with me how you did surgery on bumblefoot without a scab to guide you to the infection? My rooster has it and there is absolutely no scab anywhere and we can't tell where to start.

Gypsytumbleweed, could you please share with me how you did surgery on bumblefoot without a scab to guide you to the infection?  My rooster has it and there is absolutely no scab anywhere and we can't tell where to start.

I cut into the center of the raised area & fished around a bit with a scalpel, then squeezed until raised area released kernel & puss. I was lucky I think to find the spot. I've done this on a second chicken with no results (no kernel/puss) guessing they hadn't yet developed.
