If the skin was totally healed underneath you probably don't need to bandage, unless it's hard for him to walk and you want to put a cushion of sorts under the scab area with some gauze. My vet told me iodine can be used but not everyday since it also breaks down healthy growing tissue. Since you may end up needing to bandage when more scab comes off, if it's not healed underneath, you should have gauze pads and either vet wrap or stretchy first aid tape - the stuff that sticks to itself but not the skin. You'll also need neosporin for packing into the hole if you end up pulling infection out with the scab.
