I managed to get a small about of the black scab off this eveming
Only around the corner, looked like just normal flesh underneath. No blood or reddness or puss as of yet! Is there the posibilty there isnt anything under the black scab?

Wow, that would be amazing. My first duck that got bumble - small - but I just soaked several days and when I finally went to pull the scab off the tissue underneath was healed. I would say keep soaking and working at bits of the scab at a time and see what you find. Make sure if there is any injured tissue that you wrap the foot and keep it clean after you apply neosporin.

I placed some iodine on the bottom of his foot today just incase there was anycut skin grom when i took some black off. Will that work okay?

If the skin was totally healed underneath you probably don't need to bandage, unless it's hard for him to walk and you want to put a cushion of sorts under the scab area with some gauze. My vet told me iodine can be used but not everyday since it also breaks down healthy growing tissue. Since you may end up needing to bandage when more scab comes off, if it's not healed underneath, you should have gauze pads and either vet wrap or stretchy first aid tape - the stuff that sticks to itself but not the skin. You'll also need neosporin for packing into the hole if you end up pulling infection out with the scab.

I have ordered the bandages already thanjfully and they have atrived now. Ive also got a spray i saw someone had adviced online.. i cant seem to find any neosporin in the uk ive been looking. Would you know of any other productni could use?

I cant seem to get hold of that online in uk either. I managed to get some more of the scab off tonight. A rather large piece came off with ease, the flesh looked nornal underneath but then it did bleed. I sprayed with a spray and did put some more idoine on... i tried to wrap it but the bandage i had would not wrap and stay on!... seems the one i purchased is useless so going to try purchase another one. So worried now that that may get infected but with spray and iodine and in a clean bed i hope it wont epsom salt bath forhim in the morning too. What does it normally look like under the scab if the infection is still there? Xxx

If you could post pictures that would be best so people can see what you're dealing with. Bandaging can be tricky but can be done. You can tuck your duck under your arm, with a little towel wrapped around them to secure the wings. I put a 2 inch square of gauze pad angled to fit the bottom of the foot the best. Then I take vet wrap or first aid tape and wrap around between the toes and over and under the foot. Not too tight, they need to be able to walk. Then I continue wrapping the tape around the leg. If I need to keep it dry I will take a small plastic bag and wrap that around the foot and secure with another layer of vet tape just around the leg.

Thank you!!more seemed happy to come off tonight but i thoughr best not to attempt it as bled yesterday and leave it with soaks for a couple more days first. Here are the pictures of his feet i just took, not sure ifyou can see well enough. Please let me know what you think xxx thank you so much for all the support . I think its yellowy as of the iodine yesterday
