Is this the start of Bumblefoot in my 4 week old gosling? She just started limping yesterday. She’s still limping today but seems to be running around more with her sisters. Eating and drinking fine. They are still in a brooder type set up but we do take them out to run around the yard so maybe she stepped on something?

Also… we were feeding a duck specific food with niacin til about a week ago when we ran out and our local mill and TSC were out. So we’ve been feeding them flock raiser. Just got a new back of duck food so they will be getting niacin again. If it’s not Bumblefoot, could this have done anything to cause her leg pain?

Flock raiser is fine, it’s what my geese were raised on.

That could be the beginning of bumblefoot, it also looks like a type of skin infection birds will sometimes get from walking around on dirty moist ground for prolonged periods, usually a weakened immune system is actually to blame.

Treatment is similar to bumblefoot, soak the feet once or twice daily in a warm Epson salt bath and apply neosporin to the bottom of the feet afterwards. If you can bandage the affected feet or make them a little booty to keep the feet dry treatment will be more effective.
