Please help I think my hen has bumblefoot. I have done a little research on it I'm not very confident with performing the surgery. She is not limping, but there is a red abses on her toe. It almost looks like her toe is broken. Any tips? Also if I were to take her to a vet how much would the surrey cost?

Bumblefoot” is the term used to describe an infection on a chicken’s foot; it is referred to as “plantar pododermatitis” by medical professionals. Bumblefoot is characterized by swelling, sometimes redness and often a characteristic black or brown scab on the bottom of the foot. Left untreated, serious cases of bumblefoot can be fatal as the infection can spread to other tissues and bones.

Just to let you know, I copied that!

I don't think your hen has Bumblefoot. Do you have a picture?

Yes, but I'm not really sure how to post it.

Sorry, I totally forgot, but will try to post pictures soon!

In the mean time if you can try soaking her feet in some nice warm Epsom salt water, but make sure if it's cold outside that she is dry before putting her back out. Post pic as soon as you can because you don't want to let bumble get out of control.
