Hi Everyone!
I introduced myself last night over in the General Discussion area, but thought I'd pop over here and pout a little. I was supposed to get my new babies yesterday but the feed store called and said that I won't get them until Monday or Tuesday because of Memorial Day slowing mail down and plus Sunnyside Hatchery didn't have enough RIR to send me on thursday. I've ordered 6 Rhode Island Reds and 6 Barred Plymouth Rocks. I've been checking out everyone's posts and pictures and getting even more and more anxious and excited for my little peeps to arrive.
I do have some baby quail that are almost three weeks old. If you want to see pictures go to General Discussion and click on the "Have quail. Want chickens." message. I also have a website that anyone can check out: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id2446 I have 24 more quail eggs in the incubator with an anticipated hatch date of June 12th. If any one is interested in getting quail let me know. I would be glad to give some of the new ones a new home. I can't house them with my chickens so please help me out.

Ha ha, you are nesting! Anxious for the babies to arrive. Only a couple more days til you have new peeps.

Mamading,

I feel your pain! LOL. We ordered my chicks from the feedstore on Apr 12. They only had an estimated arrival date at that point of Apr 26-May 31, but were saying, "middle of May." After Apr 26 I called, and asked, and called, and had hubby call every few days WAITING FOR MY BABIES! A friend nicknamed me the Agway Stalker! It stunk. When May 8th got here, I figured HEY, it's the middle of May! No dice, babies still not in. They were hatched on Mother's day <which, of course, I knew was happening because I called the Friday before>, and I got 'the call' the following afternoon.

The waiting is torturous!! But they'll be here before you know it, and then you'll realize all the stuff you were supposed to get done bc (before chicks) that didn't quite get done! Just like having kids..

I know. I really do have it bad. Friday morning right after I got the call I hung up the phone, stomped my foot, crossed my arms over my chest and said, to my boys, "I'm so saaaaaad! my chickies aren't coming today!" My nine year old son started laughing at me and said, "Mom, you're funny. You know they'll be here in a few days." I smacked the countertop with my hand and said, "I knoooowww, but I was laying in bed last night and couldn't sleep just thinking about the cute little fuzz balls and now they aren't gonna be here today." (It's hilarious in hind sight)
Then I slowly walked over to the brooder that I had all set up with their sugar water, and feed, and nice clean paper towels, and turned off the warming lamp... click... wwwhhhhaaaa!!!
So then I called my friend and said, "Let's go check out some garage sales. I gotta get my mind off of my chicks." There were a few sales that we went to way out in the sticks and I was so glad none of them had chickens there or I would've lost it. ha ha ha.
