My maran started laying eggs last week, and pretty much all of her eggs have been rough and bumpy. The bumps are mostly concentrated at the ends of the egg. Does anyone know what is causing this? Is it bad? What can I do? Here are some pictures:
Is it too much oyster shell/baked egg shells? Or the food I am using? I give them 16% layer and I throw them a handful of scratch towards the end of the day. I plan on switching to a higher percentage feed when this one runs out.
My cuckoo Marans lay bumpy eggs as well. Some times the eggs from my mixed flock are bumpy or oddly shaped. I dont know what causes this but the eggs taste great regardless. Hopefully someone on here will know.
no there is nothing wrong, it is just extra calcium on the shells, happens from time to time. common in young pullets until the get their plumbing working right
