bunny biting

no he was not, he let me pick him up and pet him, he seems generally nice, he sometimes sniffs me and then trys to bite, I am wondering if he just smells food on me?
Hm, that’s strange. So, he was friendly before you left, and then aggressive once you came back home? Do you know this pet sitter, and have you seen how they interact with animals? Maybe he is going through a hormonal stage, but here are some helpful articles

i have been looking at the bunny lady site, and i DO know the pet sitter i don't know how she has handled him but i have two rabbits and the other one is sooo nice. when i got them from the breeder she said that Twix ( the one that bites) liked to explore and was more solitary but Pretzel (the one that doesn't bite) was more snuggly and liked to be held more.

If he has a rotten disposition don't breed him. There are too many good rabbits out there to fool with a bad one. Any rabbit that lunged at me trying to bite me would shortly be invited to dinner.

Males can also get agressive if they need to breed. The can becomefrustrated but it is not a desired trait.
Is he close to any females?
He may be smelling her and frustrated he cannot breed her.
I have one doe that is agressive towards me when she has babies but is super friendly the rest of the time.

no, he is not close to any females. i just have another male next to him, but i separated them because they were fighting, do you think that could be it?

I do agree with other posters if he is actively attacking you I would question breeding him also. if it was just a bite a couple of times I could see it being frustration. Sounds more to me like he is being territorial.
I do remember when I was younger my mom had a really agressive Netherland Dwarf Rabbit. He bit and drew blood a number of times with different people. I don't think breeding him helped. The only thing that helped is she made him a fenced in area in our yard.
A female being protective with babies is different than one actively atticking you for no clear reason.

i think he is frustrated, but i can't figure it out what he wants. i think he wants to get out of his pen so i put his harness on the other day and walked him out of his pen, that worked for a little while but i can't take him out everyday, so I am open to long term suggestions.
