Burying hardware cloth?

I have another question...

I have read on some websites that you need to bury hardware cloth 1 foot below the ground (of the run).

I also read on some others that you do not...

Do you bury your hardware cloth? How deep?

Yes.... we bury the hardware cloth 1 foot deep, but at anangle - kinda a ' J ' ... you go straight down and then angle out. The critters try to dig and they get frustrated. I would have soooo many break-in's (and dead chickens) if we didn't have the wire buried!
