How old should a bobwhite quail be before they are butchered?

When they have there full colors (the boys) I check by picking them up, if the feel heavier then they look there ready

I'm not sure becouse I butcher by weight and it makes a difference what time of year it is, what you feed them, how much they run around, even the temp. I never butcher by time its never been right anyway.

Thanks for the info. They are 2 months old now, still are kind of small. I am feeding them FRM game bird starter.

Bobwhites are "grown out" at 16 weeks.
