Butchering Cull Cockerels Today

Doesn't it draw animals to dig in the garden?
I have troubles with eggshells and bone meal getting dug up. I have to put it on top when there's no crops so they can did without damaging crops
I haven't had any issues with animals digging (well more than normal). There always seem to be chipmunks and rabbits messing about and getting around my fence. Larger animals seem to stay out.

I put 12 cockerels into the freezer today. Yay! I slaughtered on Thursday, and let them rest in the fridge until nice and limber by this morning. I parted them out this morning and soaked the parts in brine for 8-9 hours. Meanwhile, I boiled the carcasses for a few hours and let that cool. Tonight I made meal-sized packages- skinless boneless breast fillets, tenderloins, drumsticks, wings, thighs, and giblets - 30 pounds total. I picked the bones apart once they were cool, and got another pound of nice white meat bits for dumplings, and 4 pounds of dark meat bits and skin for dog food. About 3 gallons of broth is chilling in the fridge so I can skim off fat in the morning, then bag and freeze both broth and fat. Offal and feathers were buried in the garden, as will the cooked bones tomorrow, for fertilizer. A first for me: No waste at all!!! Yay me!
