Butchering for first time- tips?

I have never tried this b4 either but it is in my future. A youtup video about handling manhating cocks I watched prior to ever getting chicken this year. The guy really calmed the cockrel down by putting Johnsons baby oil on his hand and covering the cocks head forcing it to smell the baby oil. On the video that manhating cockrel stopped its pecking and biting after about 15 seconds of that. and was real easy to handle.

As I said before this is only my experience based on a youtube video. I offer this up only since nobody offered this up and the question was asked on how to calm them if needed.
