Butler Bobwhite or Georgia Giant Bobwhite?

After buying Butlers from every one that advertised to the public in the past 15 years, none of these would consistently weigh 18 oz +..Even when darked out only about 3% would reach 20 oz..Birds from Claude McCallister of Seven Oaks Gamebird Farm or Bear Bayou wouldn't even come near reaching these biblical weights that so many are talking about..

JJMR794, Any chance I can come look at these Butlers you have ?

Sure You Can Come Look. But You'll Have To Overlook The Place--- I Am Moving Right Now Into A Fixer-upper. I Got Stuff Scattered All Over 2 Counties!

Not All Make It. Like I Said I Dunno If Its Something That Has To Be Bred For Like In Coturnix( I Do Beleive That Has A Role In It...) Or If There's Some Folks Out There That Just Get Eggs To Sell No Matter How... Maybe Even Some Dishonest Folks That Say Dang Thats A Big Quial, I'll Advertize Them As Butlers?? I Dont Like To Accuse Anyone Of This, Tho It Happens...

Like I Said Randynmegs So Far Have Beaten All The Rest Of Folks I Have Tried....

And It Sounds As Tho You Have Shopped Around As Much As I Have.... Another Thing That Sux Is The Bob Temperment---- Seems Like Everytime I Get A Decent Batch That Looks Like They'll Be Monsters They Go Bonkers And Start Killin Each Other..... Its Almost Enough To Drive A Man To Drink At Times!

I Dont Want To Lead Anyone On Here.... At This Time I Have 40 + Butlers And Tho Many Are Still Too Young To Tell I Do Have At Least 6 (these Are The Ones I Kept Outta The Oldest Batch Of Birds...) That Are Monsters At 5-7 Mos Of Age And They Just Keep Filling Out.... I Am Hoping The Younger Stock Continues To Do The Same--- If That Happens Then I'll Be Able To Offer Limited Eggs In Spring For Y'all. If Not... Well Then Next Years A Whole New Season....

Be nice is the name told the weight.

Like the A&M lots are no bigger than engligh whites.

Like to be A&M bird would have to weigh 14oz or larger.

Guess its buyer beware.

All those name for bobs, heck now some even weigh the same

Be nice if we could have standard weight for the bobs.

Does anybody have any pictures of grown 20+ oz. Butlers (preferably up beside the other "jumbos" or maybe even some grown Northerns)? I'm just real curious on this strain!!!

There's a Florida guy with butler eggs on ebay that has a pic holding them and they look twice the size of my regular bobwhites. He says they run 16 - 22 oz. And i just started a batch of them in the incubator this morning, so hopefully i can compare size in a few months.

I HAVE SOME OF HIS STOCK--- MY BIGGEST 6 (OLDER BIRDS ARE HIS) BUT AS SAID IN EARLEIR POSTS--- NOT ALL REACH THOSE "BIBLICAL SIZES". BUT I DO HAVE TO SAY HE HAS NICE STOCK.

Alright I am new to this forum and have been talking to people about these Butler Bobs on another site
I have GA Giants and would like to get a couple dozen or more of these eggs to hatch and see what happens
The Ga Giants are about 2-3 times reg bobs
Would be nice to get a little more meat for my hard work:)

My Butlers don't reach the "biblical" weights mentioned... Mine run about 17 oz. on average... Will be interested in seeing any new and larger breeds in the works mentioned earlier in the thread!
