My sweet girl Sunny is a 1 1/2 year old Frizzle / Showgirl Silkie, so the naked neck comes standard, but her butt feathers just won’t grow back in.

Winter is coming and Chicago gets pretty cold so I’m worried for my girl.

She looooves brooding in the box so I assumed that’s why her butt feathers disappeared, and was hoping they'd regrow with her molt in the fall, but that time has come and gone with no noticeable change in her plumage.

Her feathers have been about the same for at least 4-6 months with no further loss or gains that I’ve noticed.

She’s had a bald butt for so long, my girlfriend thought thats just how she was and forgot she ever had a floofy butt to begin with 😅

BULLYING

I never saw any sign of skin irritation and she sleeps well away from the only girl who picks on her so I don’t think it’s bullying.

NUTRITION

I have other showgirls and bantam silkies but no one else has the feather problem so I don’t think it’s nutrition.

MITES

I treated the flock with Elector PSP over the summer (highly recommended this treatment). It took care of the mites on the affected buff Orpington and I never saw a sign of trouble there from the other girls since.

Again, her feather issue seems very stable, but maybe it’s depluming mites?

HORMONES

She hasn’t been broody for a couple months so I don’t think she’s in broody mode

POO ISSUES?

I’ve read on here that urates in feces can scald the skin. I haven’t noticed any puffiness or redness but maybe that’s because her skin is black?

Has anyone had experience with this / tried Nu-Stock?

ANY HELP OR ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

The feathers are broken at the very end close to the skin. So those would have to molt out, & be replaced.

Molting season hasn't ended yet, everyone starts molting at different times, & rates.
