She laid another one today. Looks like it wasn't a fluke, but she has started laying again. It is beyond exciting!!! What an awesome thing.

Jeaucamom, congratulations on you and Buttercup. Well done. Those silly chickies do rip our hearts out sometimes, don't they!!

Just a few more examples of my total ineptness

I was totally confident that Butterscotch (Scotchie Girl) was ready for integration. She has been in the large juvenile coop in the garage. So my bright idea was to get one of the other nice birds (Bitsy, Jessica's lt. Brahma) and put her in Scotchies cage and when they hit it off, put them both out in the coop. It wen't okay for 2.5 minutes. Then Scotchie started getting really agressive. So brilliant idea number two pops into my head. I will get a less aggressive hen (Harmony the black sex link) to put in there so there would be a more aggressive and a less agressive and maybe Scotchie will be in the middle and be okay. WRONG!!!!!!

Bitsy was totally attacked and got her comb bleeding and was screaming for dear life. So Bitsy and Harmony both got removed. Harmony went back to the coop and Bitsy has been inside in a kennel until her comb healed. Which it did after a week.

So we try to put Bitsy back in with the flock whom she has grown up with since day olds and they attack the dog snot out of her and try to rip her earlobe off. So she is now back in the house. UGH!!!

But.... on a brighter note. It was totally beautiful a few days ago and I let the girls out of lock down (after hawk attack a while ago) and threw Bitsy and Scotchie out with them. The first day, no one mingled. The second day, Scotchie walk into the coop with others, snuggled up like she has always been one of them and so it is official..... Butterscotch is integrated!!!

Now to get Bitsy back in

even though she is getting chased away when they were free ranging in the yard. Will try again when the weather gets nice.

But Scotchie, my ONE layer, has now quit under her new living conditions even though we put her nesting box in there. They are just all jumping in and out of it like it is a toy!
