Button habitat question.

As already mentioned, would be cool but not really the best way of making a great habitat for them to survive.
Chicks can drown in a 1/4" of water....I know, had that happen.
It would require alot of maintenance to keep clean. I like the idea your trying to find a way to make their enclosure more inhabitable.
there would be no chicks in there. I am also replacing the pine shavings with reptile sand, and it would filter the water and would be extremely small and shallow, I miss just try it for a couple of days and just change it if it doesn't work out.

It's probably going to get full of poo really fast. It's worth a try, though.
I will say that the only benefit is aesthetics. If you want somewhere for the quail to water-bathe, just give them a shallow and easily rinsed dish of water to see if they like it. It's not going to hurt anything to try, but it's for your benefit, not the benefit of the quail.

I know, they are the biggest thing in my room, and I love the sound of water, so it is for me.

Another thing- humidity. Be sure the tank doesn't get too humid inside from all the water in the air.
If it doesn't work out inside the enclosure, why not put something outside? Get one of those little multi-stage waterfall fountains.

i thought of the same at first but decided against it simply because they will end up pooping in there and unless you change water in waterfall daily - the danger of bacteria is high and they will drink it
