Ditto X 3.34 billion. You can never have to many thermometers, and still air requires higher temps, than circulated air!

Are you using a digital thermometer or a glass one?
My brother explained this to me but I can't remember exactly how he said it ... but the digital ones take the last previous reading as the last measure to compare with so they will be inaccurate ( like photocopying a photocopy).

That's called replicative fading a (Star Trek) term. A copy of a copy of a copy...etc.. In exact scientific terms he may be correct about reading exact temps at any given second, or fraction thereof , however, every X min. a digital thermometer is giving you it's best guess at the temp. in your bator. Both glass alcohol/mercury based thermometers and digital can be incorrect. For hatching purposes, a +/- 1 deg.F. temp. and +/-10% humidity are generally innocuous. However, the difference between 99.5 and 101.5 could really make a difference between a thermal only, and circulated air incubator. One uses external convection, the other uses internal convection to to cook the egg to delightful hatchyness.

not sure you should trust either. temps are the most important thing IMHO in the incubating process. (others may disagree) but i would invest in a quality thermometer. just so your not second guessing...
