Button quail egg, fertile? My couple aren’t a couple?

It’s hard to see but it doesn’t look like the egg is fertile to me. I’ve been trying to hatch several eggs from this pair and I haven’t been able to figure out if it’s my homemade incubator that’s stopping development or if they aren’t fertile to begin with!

They sleep next to each other, they don’t fight, it is definitely a male and female, but I don’t see them mate ever and the male seems disinterested. He calls out sometimes too, even at night. Trouble in paradise?

If anyone is in the Bay Area, CA they can pick up a couple of eggs and try to hatch them. She’s a good layer.

If you're located near San Francisco I can pick up some to try to hatch? I use a Janoel 12 (worked just fine for a hatch before).

I’m in the East Bay, Pleasanton. I don’t have any eggs on hand but should have a couple in a few days if you want them.
