button quail eggs. please help

Two were infertile from the start and two died early during incubation from reasons unknown to me. Another pipped at the wrong end and suffocated because it didn't get to its air sac. The last two were moving when candled before lockdown but never pipped. I candled again a day after my 5 hatched and there was still movement so I put them back in the incubator but today no movement :( My incubator was homemade so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. I only had 5 successfully hatch out of 12.
i have an actual incubator. But so far so good. 5look healthy n growing 1 I'm not sure and two seem clear. But it's only day 4so im gonna give them time. I was able to contact the farmer who sold me the eggs and he said he'll keep any chicks i don't want so i can hatch all of them and still have a good chance of getting two if not all make it.

That'sgreat! Good luck with your incubation and keep us posted. I got a new incubator and will be trying my luck with 2 dozen next week!
awesome let me know how that goes! I'll try to take pics when i candle the eggs on day 7until lockdown on day 14

Idk if anyone cares but today's day 7! I'll get to see which eggs are fertile then only 9days till they hatch!

It is! I feel so impatient. I know it's only 9days But it feels like forever.
Btw nice pun haha

Sadly only 3of the 8 eggs are fertile and growing. 4 were clear and 1had a blood ring

Did you throw out the one with the blood ring? I had one with a blood ring but I kept it in the incubator. It was one of the 5 out of 12 that hatched. I leave any suspected dead eggs in for at least 3 days to make sure.

It had a blood ring for a while and there was no sign of growth or movement like the others so i took it out

That's too bad. At least you have the rest. My first time incubating, I thought I would for sure lose them all. I had so many complications with my incubator. It was home made and apparently not well made. But at least I got 5 happy healthy chicks out of it.
