Hi all!
I am extraordinarily bad at identifying button quail colour morphs so I’m hoping you good people would like to have a look at my newest quail and give your opinions!
Below are 3 birds (2 pics each). I’m most interested in the weird silver/brown combo. I have 3 like it and they all started out looking like plain silvers but after a few weeks starting going brown!
Also I’m assuming all 3 of these are female?? No rust feathers or bibs on any of them, although not sure how relevant that is for the silvery one

Thankyou!
How do you tell the golden pearl from the wildtype in females? I can see the pattern on the head is different (more of a dark cap on the wildtype) but the rest of the bird looks so similar to me 😅 I’m sure it’s just my untrained eye but interested to see what traits I’m overlooking

Yea, wildtype and golden pearl look very similar and they were the colors i had most problems with when i started raising buttons. Females of both colors usually have barred chestfeathers but in golden pearl those barred feathers extend over the back and wings as well while also giving them more of a golden color. I suggest you take pics of your birds backs and compare them side-by-side and see if you can find the difference, use my pic below as a reference if you want. 😊

These 2 birds are both cinnamon hens but with a strong difference in pattern. One is pearl and one is wildtype - do you wanna guess who is who? 🙂
