Button quail question fr Newbie

Her laying cycle may be disrupted for a little while due to her recent move to be with her new family.… a little fear and a little stress. A few of my little girls would quit laying for awhile if they felt stressed (boys bothered them too much so I removed them to their own enclosure), but then they started laying again once it passed. Laying should be totally back to normal once she gets comfy. Munroe (AKA Medusa) will be the Queen of the castle in no time!!

awww look at that little yellow cutie chick in your new profile pic @WoDia - Adorable!

I played a YT vid for my baby-boy and almost immediately MEDUSA started calling in the background (hard to differentiate her from the video tho)

After seeing what an UNTAME button button quail is like (that would be 'Medusa') I'm never going to get another from someone else unless it's hand tamed. I plan to hand tame the chicks I hatch if they don't sell immediately and then see if I can sell them for an increased price. My baby boy is soooooo precious and sweet I cannot imagine everyone not wanting one just like him!

It would be soooo awesome if you got a sweet little female from the hatch. Your baby boy is the cutest!! And, thank you! The baby button in my profile is my little Kiki. Little Miss MEDUSA may calm down a little over time (fingers crossed). She’s very pretty too. Hand-tamed little buttons would definitely be worth more…. especially if they’re half as sweet as yours! Some are just untamable, but we are really blessed when we get the few who are total cuddle bugs. Keep me posted!!!!

my tame baby ............ he is still not taking to the the 'wild thang' in the pen adjacent to him.. I think she's too wild for him!

@WoDia

Well…. perhaps eventually he will take a little more interest in her, but his bond with you is obviously most important to him. He chooses you over her. You have a very special little guy! You may never see him fully take to pretty Munroe-Medusa, but he will likely show more interest when he’s fully mature. Regardless, you are the one he’s bonded to for life. Kiki was the same way. She didn’t mind being around the others, but she’d want to be with me when she’d had enough of them (that turned out to be 80+% of the time). I enjoyed every single cuddle throughout her entire life. She even travelled with me. Now, I have a similar bond with her little girl! Continue being patient with little Medusa. She’s still adjusting and still may calm down a lot. If not, you’ll still love her just the same!

The good news is that this a.m. I put him into the same pen with her after a week of only being separated by a screen, and no one is afraid of each other any longer (aside from her being afraid of me that is, lol) ... so at least they can coexist without anyone freaking out now :rolleyes: .. maybe they'll fall in love eventually:love heh .. He's not calling for me as much which is a good sign that he's preoccupied. - They would make such pretty little chickies, but he is always gonna be my little man.

Do you have pics or vids of your current little girl ? .. It is so worth the time invested to have such a loveable little critter. Mine likes to get right up under my chin or crawl thru my hair and I love it.. or how he closes his beady little eyes when I give him a cheek rub.

I once had a yellow cockatiel I tamed from the pet store who I named "Motzarella". He would sit on the shower curtain while I showered and then get on my finger and peck at the shower spray ... later he would get the blow drier which he also loved. He would fly out of his cage to come perch on my cereal bowl and eat out of it when I had breakfast.

Both 'Motza' and my current boy [sweetpea] answered me if I talk in a certain voice from across the room. I'm utterly in love with my boy (can you tell I have no children of my own?) haaa!

My sweet little Kiki. She was a fantastic mommy to 7. The one photo is of her and Kloud (I still have him- he’s over 3 years old now).

My current cuddlebug…. Kiki’s daughter…. a little flighty at times but a teeny sweetie.

My peach-fronted conure Stafford loves to run her beak through my hair. She always wants to drink what I’m drinking too! This her in the plants with Peg.
