Button quail water feeder

I have five 7 day old button quail and I feed them using this big red water feeder, but whenever I place them nee water within 5 minutes they fill it up with wood chips and I have to keep refilling it.. can I just leave it like this, can they drink out of it?

Could you prop it up a little so that they can’t scratch chips into it but can still reach it?

I like the lids off the storage totes. Its been perfect for my pasture raised 3 day old hatchlings that are all over the place with their mommas.

for water for tiny chicks. it holds a lot of water but very shallow to be safe for the tiny chicks.
