Oh no my button quail hatched about 5 hours ago
I thought he was taking his time to stand up
I think his little legs are splayed
It's so tiny I'm too scared to tape its legs like I've seen
I don't want to squish it!
I also saw a way to fix it with a make up sponge wedge.
Can someone please help me fix it?
How do I hold it down? I'm new to this I've only hatched 2 japanese quails so far and they didn't have this problem.
Thank you :-/

do go to that web site and follow the instructions. most importantly is that they are hatching/brooding on a non slip surface like shelf liner or cloth not newspaper

Thanks guys ill try and see if i can hold it.. its just sooo little!!
i had them on paper towels which was fine for the Japanese quail chicks but as soon as i realized I've changed the brooder floor over to the shelf liner. he seems to be a bit better this morning (legs are closer together) will it correct itself or will i still need to band aid it?
the first one is IN the incubator and then the second was taken before i went to bed and the third is just super cute.. propped up at his water to try and get up

you really need to do the band-aid thing poor little guy wont have a chance against the others like that. they will eventually kill him.

He has actually almost corrected himself completely! And he looked great this morning! He is my only hatched egg so far.. I'm hoping some of the others will hatch.. one pipped at the same time as this one but still hasn't hatched.
I'll leave them at least until the end of the month, that will make 20 days in the incubator.

Really sad.. he died last night... must have gotten too cold, maybe the power went out from the storm :(
no more eggs hatched though.
