Button x Japanese cross

I am coming from a chicken genetic background, Since every Gallus subespecies can breed with each other without much trouble, the hybrids are fertile, I was thinking that it would be similar to a bamtam rooster mating with a large hen, both the Japanese and Chinese quails are subspecies of the Coturnix clade, I understand that new world quails and Coturnix Will not produce viable offspring

While a king quail may try to mount a japanese hen if desperate enough, this doesn't mean they can interbreed. My lone california quail mounts japanese hens and attepts to mount my golden pheasant hen, but they can't produce offspring.
