I know I have at least one pair of buttons old enough to breed!!

I have all 9 in a HUGE storage tub with a light a fake plant and a small shelter...what's the problem? My house is warm...what can i do to get them to lay? I really want my first egg...soon.

Do you have a pair other than any of the birds I sent you? Mine aren't laying either, and I have 12 or 13 week olds (same as the male I gave you) and 8 week olds (same as the younger batch I sent you). The line they came from was supposed to lay at 6 weeks.

Buttons are very sensitive. Even a little spook or irregular occurrence can send them out of lay. My Japanese quail are almost a year old and they just started laying. Turns out the hawks were scaring them.

I have 3 males 1 unknown and 5 females...

I had 15 but sold 6 because they got big and I didn't have enough room.

If scaring them will throw them off then I'll never get eggs...they spook every time they see me.

I find that in a community it takes them longer to lay I had a small community that hatched together 3 of the females from that same hatch went to breeding tubs with and where laying very well I sold two of the males from the community moved one that left a pair first night she layed her first eggs weeks after the others
