Buy eggs or buy chicks?

Most of the votes appear to be on turkens. If my EE roo bred with turken hens, would the result be EE? Or do you have to have EE hens to have EE chicks?

I Have 4 black copper marans eggs from Glenda Charm1704 that have just pipped

If you already have an incibator and know how to use it , go ahead and incuabate your own

If you dont have the incubator , safe yourself lot of headaches and stress and order chicks

Most of the time incubating eggs is very expensive , many of us have spend hundreds of dollars on shipped eggs and got very low results.

some hatcheries have decent looking birds

once you have your own hens incubating eggs is a joyfull experince

Make the numbers

Eggs cost
shipping cost
incubator cost

Dont expect a 100% hatch from shippend eggs

I have gotten shipped eggs before, had about a 70% rate on those, and good birds. I have an incubator (manual turner

) so if she quits, I can save the eggs. I do not want decent birds... I want healthy birds (which hatchery birds are very often not, what with the handling they receive)and if possible, show quality birds. Plus, hatchery stock have been bred so that they lay lots of eggs in a shorter period, instead of less eggs for a longer period of time.
And as for the chicken math idea... I WISH. But my dad is very strict about how many animals we have. I can only get six more birds, possibly more if I sell my three "useless" birds. (the dutch rooster bunch)
