There are predators everywhere. I'm assuming that you have raccoons and hawks in florida?

Well, I have seen hawks, and raccoons at the beach, but not around here.

Build! It doesn’t have to be complex either! Or have someone help you build along.

Don't ever underestimate the predators even inside city limits. Stuff like coons, possums and rats are often inside the city. That doesn't count the cats and dogs both wild and tame that often run around. Most suburbs still have foxes and coyotes. Down in Florida ya'll got the boas and iguanas running around thriving.

We have iguanas but the boat full, but how are they a danger to chickens? Forgive my ignorance-remember, I am learning!!

Well, I have seen hawks, and raccoons at the beach, but not around here.

They will eat your chickens. Always assume there are predators- better to be prepared than to be unprepared and lose your flock.

Oooh there's loads online. I would spend a few dollars on a good coop design plan for sure. They usually come with instructions and supply lists.

I think building is the way to go. I am just completing mine. It was very enjoyable. Made the way I want it and for the size cheaper then prebuilt.

I am such a newby to the chicken arena that I haven’t even gotten my first chicken yet! I have been studying coops.

That's good, coop first...then chickens!!!
Spend the winter studying coops, then get or build one, then chickens in the spring.
There's a lot to learn and you can avoid many problems by studying it first.

I don't see them taking a full grown full sized chicken but chicks, eggs, and smaller breeds yes.

I agree with what arrt said. Study up this winter and get in on the spring hatch.
