Buying baby chickens

I raised the baby chicks next to the outside yard of the coop. The adults could see them and hear them. When the chicks were about 4 weeks old, I put them in with my hens and roo. No problem :)

We got two batches a month apart and had no problems integrating them. When the youngest were maybe a month old we started putting them outside in the "chicken play pen" with the larger ones. That only lasted a week or so and then we put them all in the coop together. For the first week of that time the little ones stayed in the "playpen" in the coop during the night. Then we just left them together all the time. For the first few weeks while free ranging the older ones would go out on their own, but now most of the time they all run around together. There have been no pecking or bullying issues. If ours did it that easily with a months difference, I would think a week would be like nothing.
