Buying chicks from TSC in January?

I was concerned about getting the EE, I've heard they can have a lot of issues? But I'd love to have some pretty eggs too....
I hadn't heard of any issues with Easter Eggers. What have you heard? I currently have 3, but two are only 11 weeks old. My other (8 months) is one of my best layers, laying 4-5 large green eggs a week before the winter cold came along.

You're in TX and so is Ideal Hatchery. I'd order from them. You should call in to order since they routinely send males for warmth with small orders and it can be an unpleasant surprise if you aren't expecting them.
ETA: TSC online is fulfilled by Hoover's in Iowa.

All of our chickens went missing while out of the coop. We weren’t diligent about putting them up at night when we had our dog and none went missing, then the dog went missing and we started losing chickens. We couldn’t always get them put up, so when we get new chicks we wont free range them until we have a better system figured out. We did build a larger coop too, so space isnt an issue but I do love watching them free range

I read that they will become egg bound more often than other layers, but I’m not sure if that’s true. I definitely want some EEs!

I got EE’s from tractor supply and I got a very pretty arrangement of colors and are very beautiful. I’m waiting a couple more weeks for an egg from them still. Also I ordered from ideal In November and I live all the way in wv and not a single one died from shipping! I got silkies and polish both which are bantams and are gorgeous.

Oh goodness thats a cute chicken!

I was excited all my EEs were mostly different colors, cant wait till they get fully feathered. I got a couple reddish, one white, black and whites...

That’s fnny I got one white too! And reds greys and black blue. Most are bearded as well. Here are some of mine that I received. The white one stands out the most her name is Charlie. Also they were 100% correct with the sexing.
