Marbles or rocks to put in the waterer. (they can drown in little water. Leave them in about a week, then take them out)
Paper towels to put them on for the first few days. (until they learn where the food is and that shavings are not food)
Something to put over the top of the brooder. A piece of wire works fine. They can fly at a really young age.
Vitamins in case you have a weak chick. You can get powder vitamins at a feed store, or poly-vi-sol baby vitamins WITHOUT iron.
A nice, comfy chair for your endless hours of chick TV.
A camera with new batteries.

Enjoy!

I keep a big thermometer in the bottom of my brooder so I can keep an eye on the temp. I start it at around a hundred and decrease ( by raising the heat lamp) by 5 degrees a week. Doesn't have to be an expensive one...just so you know what is going on at the level of the chicks!

You also need a thermometer to watch the temps. Keep them about 90 - 95 degrees F. for the first week. Then decrease the temp. About 5 degrees every week until the temp. reaches room tempurature. And yes! You need you chicks!!!

1. I'd suggest a little sand for them to use as grit after a couple of days. The chick starter probably has grit, but I like to offer them a little extra to make sure their systems start off operating the way it is supposed to and so you can give them treats if you want to. I think the grit may help prevent pasty butt too but not sure about that. Mine stopped when I gave them some sand as grit but that may have been a coincidence.

4. You need to observe. When I got my chicks, I dipped all their beaks in the water to teach them to drink. I had one that just stood in one place and continually peeped the distress call the next day. It was driving me crazy since I could not figure out what was going on. I finally dipped its beak in the water again. It immediately started drinking heavily and was fine after that.

I walked into the same joke:D

seriously, it sounds like you have what you need. You may want 2 lamps in case one fails, and they do fail!
