Buying Wyze Camera for coop, Which model?

We've had 2 Wyze Cam Pan cameras since October and love them. I also bought the plastic covers from Amazon for weather protection. Home Depot even honored the price from the Wyze website + my military discount. We love these things and the night vision is great. I'll add some night vision later.

I know this is an older thread, but...does one need to have electric in their coop/run to use these cameras? I want to install a coop cam but I don't have electric in my coop.
Yes, you need electric in the coop to plug the cameras in. The rest of it works off Wifi.
How far from the house is the coop?

Not far - it's about 20 feet to the outside outlet. I ran an extension cord out during the winter for their water heater, but I don't want to keep a cord out year round.

I may ask our electrician how much he'll charge to run electric. He'd probably like the work during this pandemic!

They did - I’m a big fan of Wyze as I have 3 in my run and 1 in the coop.

Be sure to read the full specs and make sure their outdoor camera will be what you want. A few highlights: It’s not continuous recording - it’s event driven. Battery life is 3-6 months based on 10-20 recording events per day. If you leave it plugged in all the time, you’ll void the warranty (it’s in their FAQ). It appears to pair with a base station which might need to be powered? I researched it last night, but some of the first limitations were deal breakers for me. Having said that, this might make a great camera for keeping an eye on predators lurking during the night, but probably not a high traffic “check in on them” camera that would be continuously recording.

They are an awesome company, I’m really hoping this is successful for them.

You might want to get electric out to coop, for heated waterer in winter.

Yes! I found out about the Wyze outdoor camera about 30 minutes after I ordered a different one, lol.
But you're right -the specs on the Wyze aren't quite what I want, but they seem like an awesome company and I am looking forward to seeing what else they come up with.
