and those homing abilities are amazing. I think they recognize landmarks too. I am glad your accidental escapees didn't go far. I have finches and shudder to think of something like that happening cuz I'd never see them again and it'd break my heart.I think all pigeons have natural homing abilities, some just stronger than others. So mine just don't leave because they know where home and food and nest is. But I don't let them out on purpose. The three times a couple have gotten out we're all accidents.
