Thanks!

I'm going to vent about my art for a second, guys. Don't scroll down if you don't prefer to read vents. SparkyPartriot, if you don't like me venting, I'll edit my post.

Okay, so, after seeing everyone's work that's so much better than me, I have become very unhappy with my own work. Now, there's NO offense intended to the people who are better than me! Now, everytime I try to even SKETCH, I can't get the proportions right, the lines are jagged and rough, and the finished product looks like a crapsterpiece!

I have even been crying over not being able to do artwork as well. I don't know what happened; I used to be proud of what I could do, but now I can't seem to be proud of what I do, and just want to crumple it up and throw it away like the trash it is! The only drawings I've done that everyone agrees look actually realistic are done by following the instructions in a step-by-step book, which means the art isn't even mine!!!

And to make matters worse, the pressure is really on because it's the 15th and I need to have a portrait of my sis-in-law's dog, Lucky, done as a gift before the 22nd!!! I just... I am getting so upset!

And to make matters EVEN WORSE, my mom blames it on ME because I quit my at-home art lessons. But, hey, I can't blame myself for doing so: I was drawing SUNGLASSES on EGGS, for crying out loud!!! I, eventually, graduated to drawing trees, and the next, what, 20 lessons seemed to be that way!!!

Okay... my vent is over. Help and sympathy is GREATLY appreciated. I really want to do my best on the portrait, but with my horribly ugly work, I do not even feel like doing it because she wants it FRAMED and hung in PLAIN SIGHT! D: I don't want that kind of publicity for my work if it's as bad as it is, now!!!

Chickenfan4life... I don't even know where I begin. Please don't think of your art skills like that! You are AMAZING and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. I love your original works. It doesn't matter if it doesn't look realistic. I know how much time and effort you out into your work and THAT'S what makes it so good! And jeez, I know how boring some art lessons can be.... There are many different types of artists but I think the best way to learn how to draw or do art is by doing something you enjoy! Eggs with sunglasses and trees are not exactly my view of enjoyment if its lesson after lesson after lesson. If you would like, I could give you some art tips and lessons over PM? I'm honestly not anywhere close to art teacher level (heck, im not even in high school yet) but I would love to help if I can! Chickenfan4life you have an amazing talent that will only get more amazing as time goes on. Have you seen my drawings from a couple years ago? I had no idea how to shade, do proportions, or anything. You certainly have a head start. I promise you that if you keep working with all your effort to get better you will LOVE your results! To me, your just as good as any of the artists on this thread because of the super commitment you make to all your art :)

Heya guys, I have a predicament. I'm trying to plan out my class schedule for next year, but the classes don't fit. I will either have to drop one of my honors classes..... Or art. My best friend and science teacher said I should drop my art class.... But I love it so much I don't know if I could bring myself to do it. Art is the one thing that keeps me relaxed and locks me into my place the world like I am. I don't know what I would do without it! I'm going to ask my art teacher what she thinks tomorrow morning. But I would also appreciate you guys' opinions- is my art good enough to drop out of an honors class and fully commit to art for all highschool? I need help deciding this... I've only got till Thursday to make up my mind before we send In our final schedule plans

sorry, I can't really help out it is kind of up to you.
What is honors class?

When i chose my elective classes I thought about which ones had good paying careers in, because sadly money makes the world go round these days

Thank you for the kind words; it truly, honestly means a lot to me.

If you think I am as good as you say I am, then it's reason enough for me to carry on! I've just had people tell me I suck and I shouldn't keep trying, 'cause I only fail and get worse, so I didn't know what to believe because I think the same exact things of myself/my artwork.

And, I would love to take art lessons from you. If you have time to do so, I think it would really benefit me, because maybe I can go from this:

To more like what you can do!

I just want you to know your words are encouraging and helpful and fill me with joy. I know I sound like I'm merely saying thank you, but I am trying to express my true thanks. Thank you so much!
