Q. are we only allowed 1 classified at a time? i have 1 open for a cockeral and was going to list a pullet in a seperate listing but it will not let me?

A. Yes, for now, if you are a nonpaying member, you may only have one classified open at a time. However, if it is a true classified and not an auction, you can simply edit your ad, to add the pullet to the same ad. Just explain in the ad what you are asking for each. Members will PM you if they are interested, so the transactions can be separate.

Paying members may have more ads open at a time. Here is a link to show the various benefits. The current limits are a starting point. As we see how things go in the classifieds section, these limits may be raised.

Q. will i get deformed hens from inbreeding as the new rooster and hens are from same rooster
A. Related chickens are often bred together, but there are good and not so good ways to do this. This question would best be answered by making a thread in the Breeds, Genetics and Showing forum, where you (and others) can get the benefit of all the expertise on that forum!

Q, I have been looking for the list of BYC members, and can only find one that lists those currently logged in. Is there still a member list
available? Thanks - Mary
A. No, sorry, there isn't one. But the search function does make it easy to find a member. Type the name in and click search, then look for "user."

Q. what can I do about my chickens pulling each others feathers out
A. The quickest way to get answers to a frequently asked question like this is, type "feather picking" into the search bar and click "search." I just did this, and got a number of threads on the subject. You can always ask your question in a new thread, too.

Q. "Hi,

could we have a new forum topic about selling and distributing eggs. I am working to grow my flock and egg production for sales and donations. The help from fellow BYC members is wonderful and it would be great to have a place to share questions, comments and experience dealing specifically with this topic. I would love to hear how people market their eggs, prepare them to be sold, are able to donate eggs, etc. Although I am thinking of eggs to eat, certainly selling eggs for hatching could be included.

When searching archives for egg sales results are posted in a variety of forum topics. Having one place for this would be helpful. If I have missed it I apologize and appreciate being pointed in the correct direction.

Thank you

PS - the new format is great, thank you for all your work!

A. Thanks for the suggestion. It will be referred to the staff section for discussion.

Q. How do I set the threads I subscribe to to most recent posts first?
A. Sorry, this is not a feature on this forum. Clicking on the flag to the left of the name of the thread in that forum's index does take you to your oldest unread post, though.

Q. I have a chicken with a open peck sore on its back I have removed it from the hen house and I would like to know what and if I should put anything on it.
A. This question would best be asked on our Emergencies forum, where you have the benefit of our many experienced members, plus the answers may help others.

Q. HI, I was just wondering how I go about making a new member introduction . I saw no area to do it when i first signed up so I am not sure if I have been introduced or not but I would like to be! Thanks for the help.
A. Welcome! Click on this link to go to the New member Introductions area. Just below the name of the forum is a Start a New Thread button. To find the different forums, just hover over "Forum" at the top of the page in the brown bar.

Q. "S L O W .....unbelievably slow no matter what server I use....4 seconds for a page to change..I have tried mozilla, chrome, internet explorer.... any help?"

A... There are many, many possible causes for this.

Here is an article on the subject:

There is also a link in the second comment to another thread, with further assistance available. Good luck!

Q: "Since you have changed forum I have so much trouble with the speed. Very tedious and slow that I usually get discouraged and log out soon after getting on. I used to love browsing, but can't do that anymore. At first thought it was my pc, but I have no problem anywhere else. It just isn't any fun anymore...
Am I the 'only' one that has problems with it?"

A: See reply above, in post #19.

Some people continue to have more problems than others. In many cases it can be resolved or improved by changes the user makes. Also, we have emphasized elsewhere that improving performance is the continuing top priority for the site.

No, you aren't the only one who continues to have problems -- but many with similar problems have been able to resolve them, and others never had them.
