Speaking of snakes, a neighbor was just here getting pepper and eggplants. He told me about his neighbor that had put away a bag of opened potting soil in a sunny warm place. She reached into the bag to get some potting soil, felt movement and quickly pulled her hand back. When she carefully inspected the bag, she found two snakes (non venomous) and a pile of snake eggs. Needless to say, in the future, she will not be sticking her hand in a bag without first checking the contents.
Something similar happened when I was a kid -- back when we had goats. I was about seven or eight, I think... reached out to grab a handful of hay from the bale, and felt a snake wriggling beneath my palm....
I don't know if I've ever screamed from fright so loud since.
... Probably. There was that hawk incident that made me shriek. Yep -- shriek. A full-blown, high-pitched, nails-on-chalkboard, shriek.

Snakes are always getting baled. It was one of the first things we were taught was to check for snakes before we grabbed a bale.

Yikes potting soil and bales! Guess my husband was right 😔
I’m a “city” girl so I don’t know what to look for, but he grew up here in south Georgia so he knows all about foxes, snakes, and other critters that will hurt you if you’re not careful. I usually brush it off and say he’s exaggerating but I guess not anymore!!

I’m inside chilling in my couch 😬 I did 13k+ before 7pm so that’s a good sign 🤣

I made eggs and spinach. Like an hour ago but still haven’t eaten it yet. :lau  this picture was freshly taken 45 minutes ago and I am now microwaving it for the 3rd time. 😂🤣🙈🙈

How do you not eat it right off the stove? Eggs sounds like a good idea. Imma make some tonight for dinner
Cause I got distracted by my phone. 😂🤣🙈

And now my parents brought home a pulled pork sandwich and the eggs are nasty now so I’m eating some of each. 😂🤣 trying to force the rest of the eggs down aha ate the spinach though.

I know. I didn’t get up till noon though  but then I’ve literally just been sitting  cause it’s like 80 degrees out :lau 🥵🥵
I get more steps than that before breakfast. Get up now and go walk around the yard at least. Hang out with your birdies. They miss you! So it's hot--at least it's not cold. Get out there and enjoy it!

It’s 11pm now

I’m actually going to bed early for once. :lau

Tomorrow though I think is supposed to be cooler and I’m going to do this. I barely even interact with any of them anymore except making sure they have food and water.

Tomorrow I think I’m going to try to put my phone down and just hang with the animals and/or do stuff.

That had like 29 grams of protein. :lau :D

But also like 1400 calories and a shit ton of sugar and carbs and fat.
I fed things like that to my hubby when he had a bone marrow transplant because there were so very many things he literally couldn't choke down, let alone keep down. I gave it to him as medicine, to help him recover from an extremely dangerous medical procedure. This is not something that ought to be eaten (certainly not in those quantities) as recreation.

Seriously, no one else needs to or ought to eat like that. Hardly anyone can eat like that consistently and remain in good health. Even if you're doing the triathlon, you can't eat like that. The calories, sure. The protein, absolutely, But the mounds of sugar and additives that went into creating that cup-o-💩!🤦‍♀️

You know, a small serving is every bit as enjoyable as a huge one. You eat slowly, no television, no nothing except the ice cream. Eat mindfully. Enjoy every little sensation and experience of eating that ice cream. Then when you have finished it, clean up and go outside. ENJOY the heat. It can be done. It's a state of mind. Enjoy your birds. Build some small thing for them you've been meaning to do. Teach them to take a sunflower seed from your fingers. Find something constructive and/or pleasurable to do. Carpe Diem.
