Hello Rob,
I just lost an auction and did not comprehend why...I read your thing on the proxy bidding...not a fair system if you ask me...You should have a way to let the stupid guy like me we are bidding in vain against a machine...the amount should be indicated to save everybody's time..I got sooo mad seeing i was the only bidder...bidding gayly against myself with no way to know how high to go...Furious here in California...

I seriously hope the proxy bidding isn't removed or changed. It is how eBay runs and it runs smoothly. It also wouldn't be fair to the first person who bid using a proxy maximum bid for that amount to show. This would just let everyone know what to bid at the last minute to win.

If you are bidding and get the you have been outbid message it is very obvious you are bidding against the first (or most recent) bidders proxy maximum bid. Maybe new members need a so many posts or so much time on here before they can bid. Maybe have all new members read and check an acknowledge box that they understand BYC auctions use proxy maximum bidding.
