BYC Café

Good Morning All.
I am having my 2nd coffee and chocked on the brick cookies I baked last night. Overcooked so it is dried and hard like a brick.
Over here, it is raining dogs and cats since yesterday.
I am constantly doing laundry for I have to get change after I attended to my sick roo.
The lawn got mowed last Saturday, now it looks like it needs another hair cut.
I will have to finish those brick cookies and visit the dentist later this week as I expect those brick cookies will do some damage to my teeth.

Just dunk them into your coffee and your teeth will thank you for it. Might even spare you costly dentist vitsits. :D

Good evening Café!

It has been raining incessantly for days now and some of the chickens seem to discover their inner duck enjoying the puddles and playing in the rain.

I just dicovered one of the Amrock pullets in her favourite nest box clucking and growling - she is broody! Tomorrow evening she will get an additional ring on her left leg which is how I mark all the ones that go broody. Maybe she will get a chance at raising chicks in the spring...

I am very sorry you lost her @sourland

Keeping chickens may become financially advantageous again.
12 large store brand eggs...$6.79!!
They were brown and Cage Free..that makes them worth more, eh?
All the eggs on the shelf were cage free, so no choice.
SMH  :he :rant
Where I am in Australia...price is a bit less or more according to the brands. It costs more financially, time and emotional to keep my chickens for eggs than buy eggs at the shop. Eggs are just the extra bonus, the love my chickens give me worth everything.

Eggs are bonus because they just don't lay consistently and now they are taking turn going broody, lay eggs whenever they feel like it. Except for the Isa Brown that lay eggs to dead as they have no choice.

It would be a natural action, but I have no brain today, my sick roo took my brain. I sat here this morning biting on brick cookies and chocked on it, it did not occur to me to dip it in my coffee... the things chickens do to me.

I am making a cup of tea and this time dip it in my tea. Thank you for reminding me.
