Good morning, Cafe', and thanks for the coffee. It's cold out there.

The hot coffee is delightful! We saw -7 F but it has warmed up to -2 F. Last evening the weather idiots got my hopes up and bumped down the breezes, this morning, not so much. Back up to 50mph predicted for tomorrow. I suppose I should be happy that the winds will warm the place up, but still.
Almost through this bout of cold! Enjoy the day, Cafe!

Just came in from pushing snow around. Only got around 6" - not quite as much as predicted.

We have a literal dusting of snow. That's it.

Had a low of 4, and it's up to 8 now. The chickens are out and about, like it's no big deal.

I'm using the cold temps to defrost the chest freezer. All the food is in totes out on the front porch. I found some goodies! And some missed opportunities. Those will become dog or chicken treats (freezer burned meat).

Well, it looks like I can rescue the freezer burned chicken breasts and use them for something for the humans! Good, because we needed a "something for dinner" some time this week.

Almost through this bout of cold!

We are at the beginning. The flock all seemed fine this morning. Everyone goes out for a quick bite then come back in, fluff up and sit in the pine shavings.

Just came in from pushing snow around.

That, thankfully, missed us. I don't want to have to shovel in this.

The turkey flock (new count is 30+), is so regularly visiting my yard, I need to start checking for them before releasing the dogs to relieve themselves. Bella made it know she needed to do her business so I collared the turd and let them out. 10 seconds later I see turkeys flying all over the place! The dogs were more fascinated by the fact that such large birds could fly over the treetops so all the birds had no trouble evading them.

Done for the day and faced with a question for the future. What will I do if/when we get a real snowfall of 12 to 18"? Just hunker down inside until spring thaw?

We do not have wild turkeys out here.
Deer come to feed at the grass left where the x mas trees are growing behind our place.
