Fried Green Tomatoes, has to be one of my all time fave late spring foods!
And yes the movie was very good also!

Morning! Thanks for the coffee. DS@ coming up to hang out today and DS# was up here yesterday with a puppy in tow and we had fun cutting down some trees for a neighbor. DS$ wants a dog now.... I can see that working out well with our schedule. I will just pack said puppy off with the DS$ when he goes traveling...
I think we will just stick with the beer drinking, coffee sipping cat for the moment.

Thanks. I am growing Purple Cherokee heritage tomatoes. They have so much flavor.

I am growing heritage Purple Cherokee tomatoes and usually I wait till they are ready to pick. But my husband loves fried green tomatoes so we picked the largest for his fathers day supper. If you have never tried fried green tomatoes you should try some.
mix milk and egg for dredging
mix 50/50 flour and corn meal
coat the 1/4" slices of tomatoes in the milk and egg
coat them in the corn meal and flower mixture.
Fry them in oil till golden brown when you take them out salt and pepper and serve.

Some grocery stores now sell green tomatoes for this purpose and some sell the fried green tomatoes all ready sliced and breaded you can find them in the frozen food sections. Just fry and eat.

Went to a play last night - "A Few Good Men". What an outstanding performance. We go to a fair amount of local theater productions (blue blooded woman and the redneck man), and this show was among the best we have ever seen. Hoping the rain holds off. Daughter and family are taking us to a minor league baseball game as a Father's day gift.
