Alaskan, I used to hide in my bedroom with door locked, and dresser pushed up against it - when company came over. My father used to bellow "If you don't come out of there, I'll kill ya!" He always had a way with words, just the wrong way.

Bedroom windows were near the ceiling, and nothing high enough to use for a boost. I would just hunker down and wait it out. After company left, he was tired and forgot about me. I could sneak out later and rummage for some good stuff to eat.

Now NO ONE comes over unless I invite them, though I do hide when Jehovah's witness come to the door.

I would have a spoonful of Nutella in your honor...but nah, I will just toast ya with my next sip of boozy coffee. ;)

My mom's parents were both born and raised in Chicago. I should look up what part.

There, consider yourself toasted!

Sounds pretty rough, guess holidays would not have been too much fun then :hugs
Always nice when you finally get your own place :) I constantly have conflicting feelings of wanting to be completely alone and wishing I had a social life. We now have three brand new homes that I can see from my property (previous owner severed land off before selling). I hate it...we're planning on beefing up the wind break.
