So that wild game meat store I think I mentioned earlier? We bought some stuff to ship to my grandparents but we also bought some stuff for us too.
We got them a small venison roast, pheasant, rabbit, and some elk stew meat. My mom asked what elk was like or what was the difference and the owner and this other guy, another customer, both said it was really good, better than venison, she said she would eat elk before venison, etc. etc. and the other guy said he made this delicious elk stew recently and everyone in his poker group loved it. So we got it. But then the other cuts of elk were more expensive and the elk roasts, although pretty cheap, she said were huge, like 8 or 9 pounds, so we just got the stew meat. But yeah. I hope they'll like it. Wish I had thought to ask that guy for his recipe though haha it sounded really good
But my grandparents are 82 I think and my grandpa has gone deer hunting opening day (and used to hunt other stuff too, always had bird dogs) every year for forever, since he was like 12 maybe? and this year was the first year he didn't plus we have wanted to go to this place forever and were in the area so we figured we would stop by. We actually didn't even know it was where it was but drove by it on the way to the concert last night lol and then this morning I was on the website and figured out they have a restaurant so we decided to try that too and loved it. But anyway, my grandpa's eyes and hands and everything are going and he has some other problems so I don't think he can shoot anymore or at least can't hunt. I think he still goes to the range. Plus no one goes with him anymore. My cousins or uncles used to go. I think it was hard on him not going this year so hopefully the game meat will cheer him up hah
Anyway, so then for us we got pheasant breast, rabbit loins, elk stew meat (all the same stuff we got them), plus duck breast.
But I have never had game meat or even lamb or cornish game hens (though my parents say I've had lamb and venison so idk) so I don't know if I'll like it but I wanted to try it. Oh and I have had bison burger too actually cause they sell it at the grocery store. But that's the extent of my experience. My mom got a wild game cookbook recently before we even found this place
BUT
I wanted to ask if anyone has any good recipes for the meats listed above?
If it's TL;DR the meats are pheasant breasts, rabbit loins (or fillets? Labeled fillet, called loins in store), boneless Pekin duck breast, and elk stew meat.
And here's pictures just cause.
