BYC Café

Good morning everyone :frow

Happy Friday! Coffee is ready, be careful it's a bit strong this morning.

Hubs got the screened garden almost done. Just need to add the top and shade today and start amendments. Need to put some bird netting around the grapes to keep the chickens from killing them off and some for the lemon tree because they're eating the flowers :barnie

It has been in the 90's this week, above average, and summer will be here before we know it :sick

Have a great day guys, and a fantastic weekend!
Need strong coffee!

Thanks.gif

Hubby already giving me compliments on all the flowers! I need mulch but no one has it on sale yet. I should probably get a truck load!

I don't know if it's available to you, but both in KS and in FL I was able to get truckloads of mulch from the county department that trimmed trees. Maybe you have something like that around you?

Alaskan good thing you decided to feed the kids instead. They've grow up to be very resourceful and a huge help to you. The horses would have just eaten and pooped.

very true. And thanks!

I sure am glad I have them for about another 10 years... they sure are useful. I never have to split or haul wood any more.... pretty cool. :old

Not sure what I will do when the last one leaves me... but the yongest is only 9... So about 10 more years of help.

My Cochin went broodie long enough to give me CHICKIE FEVER! and get some development. Then she either got bored or had a date and they died :hitMy DD was given a Little Giant incubator and is letting me use it. So Fever is now Anticipation:wee hopefully I will be able to post some super cute *Mutt* chickie pics in about 10 more days.

In the past I have had Great success with using a Silkie to brood eggs. Silkies will try to hatch rocks and are a super fun breed. I plan on getting more soon :clap

Sorry about the chicks :(

I may have to get some Cochins or Silkies. Do they go broody annoyingly often? And won't Silkies be picked on by bigger birds?

I do not drive on Highway 99! I try to stay off of 80 too. I drive mostly on Highway 50 and Business 80 in Sacramento.

I wouldn't either probably. Seems dangerous.

well... I guess they were pets... since they sure didn't work.

I had horses as a kid... but this time around I had them for maybe 10 years, then decided it would be better to feed the human children .... only had enough money to feed one set of ravenous beasts.

Lol nice. I know some people keep them to help on farms or whatever. Seems kind of expensive though. I'd probably have them for pets but for riding too. I don't plan on having cows or sheep or anything so wouldn't need them for any work.

And aww probably a good decision!

Oh MyLanta! (sorry for the strong language) Adopted chaos here real quickly today. I have agreed to bottle feed 3 3 day old kittens. I am sure now that I may never sleep again. :he However it will give me more time to drink some coffee!

Awww that's good of you!

Aww that's awesome! How old are the older ones?

I am definitely looking forward to the day when my kid(s) are more help then hindrance around the farm. Will open up new opportunities for sure!

LOL

The oldest is 19 and in college. .. but he still lives at home.

he has a part time job and attends as many church services as he can (he plans to be a priest) but still does a great deal of work around the place. Big and strong boy. :)

I am looking into that, just one or 2 more emails should do it. Thanks.
