What do you give as treats? Walnuts and grapes are really popular here. Oddly, they don't go much on the shop bought grapes. they like the wine grapes that grow here which are more acidic.

I give dried mealworms or live ones, black soldier fly larva, broccolo slaw, raisins or dried cranberries. It depends what they like. That's just what sneak out here and there. I live in the desert so we provide greens, fruits and other veggies year round because there's not a lot of natural forage here for them.

Have you ever tried that Shad? I've read up on it but haven't done it...with only 5 girls not sure it's worth the trouble.

I have. They they stink when they die and I didn't have time to clean corpses out of the box every day. I got rid of it.

I haven't N F C. My view has been the chickens here free ranging probably get all the creepy crawlies they need. They also get meat and fish in their diet. I would definitely consider it if the chickens were kept in a run.
