BYC Café

@agedog1 welcome to the Café. Sit down for a bit and enjoy a coffee. Glad that you are surviving your ordeal. As for the bear - most fish and wildlife agencies will do nothing until the bear has become a nuisance and caused damage/harm.

Thanks for the coffee Shad. I took a bit of the cod for lunch. Princess is taking me to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. :yesss:

Morning! Age, my guess is that you are stuck with the bear until it decides to move on.
Hot-wire your critter pens and enjoy the view. Works great around these parts! Take care of yourself too and mend quickly please.

Well, DS$ placed 2nd. (7-0 score) He is not disappointed as he learned some valuable information and had an amazing experience throughout this HS season. He was actually in awe of the finals and so many lightbulbs have come on from it that I am excited to hear the stories today, but the slacker child is still sleeping... ;)

Enjoy the day!

Congrats to son, that is still terrific to get that far.

Great job by your "slacker child" Margie! :D

BIG surprise. I noticed in October, November and December that when I walked down my driveway to get the mail. The Guniea would stop, stare across the creek and start cackling up a storm. The last day of 2018 I just had to take the mail to the mailbox in the dark with no flashlight (yes, I know you can't fix stupid) but my service dog with her lighter collar on was accompanying me. I fell down the side of the road, CRASH into the stream, lost the mail and one of my gloves. My poor service dog runs to the house (I have a phone with a button Stella can push to call 911) but I don't have a doggy door into the house (see above you can't fix stupid). So she comes back to me. I am screaming help (hey Stupid your neighbor is up on the mountain it's below freezing and they probably don't have their windows open) I tell Stella "slow slow" (this means she is to stay very close to me and walk very slowly). I can't see a thing and am crawling through the stream to get to the bank. Crawl up the bank, manage to stand up and walk to the house. Stella and I take an ambulance to the emergency room then another ambulance to the hospital a third ambulance takes us to the VA hospital where I am told my neck is broken. O.k. I got way off point regarding my Gunieas cackling.

Today I am walking back from my mail box. I stop near where I fell to again
ponder my stupidity. I look up the hill on the other side of the creek and what do I see! A bear has dug a den up there (the guineas had been trying to warn me all those months ago).

Oh I am in a heavy neck brace! Hopefully I will have time to purchase Bear repellant and he fitted with a soft neck brace before the Bear ends its hibernation.

This is a true story so anyone have any ideas about the Bear? Who do you call for Bear relocation. I live in Gilmer county Georgia.
You have a very helpful Dog! It is good that you made it out of the creek.

Fish and Game would be the ones to contact here

@agedog1 , I have bear around my property too. I took this picture the year before getting chickens:

This print was about 7' from the back of my garage. It's pretty big, I've got man hands!
I built my coop and run with hot wires around them. The bear has never been a problem.
I'm glad to hear you are on the mend. That was a terrible adventure you had. You've got an excellent service dog!
