BYC Café

Hey Guy, remember the bald eagle I mentioned the other day? There were actually 2 of them dead. The wildlife guy came out and checked things out. Apparently the power lines are too close together out at the golf course road, these 2 were directly under those wires. He said he figured the birds landed on the wire and somehow touched both wires, electrocuting them. Unfortunately, they were both female birds too. He's going to talk to the power company about resetting the lines to the proper distance...hope they will.

Sounds like a rough morning for your dog Dobie, hope the docking goes ok. Glad to hear the biopsy results!
Awww so sad about the eagles! Hope they will move those lines!

Wow!

A power line near 80 by Vacaville California is going to be fixed for similar reasons. Along with killing birds, the touching lines can cause fires. PGandE caused 20 to 30% of the fires over the last couple of years, some of them being catastrophic like the one that destroyed paradise

That's a shame! Charging money for public services should carry big responsibility!

Sounds like you have a good knowledgeable vet. Your dog will feel lots better. Keep us updated, and we will keep you in our prayers.

@DobieLover keeping you and your boy in my thoughts today, hope all goes well!

Thanks to all of you.
He's oblivious to any of it right now. I'm hoping the dock will be relatively low pain for him. It will certainly be less painful that trying to stretch what skin is left over the end of his tail after the tumor has been cut off.

That is very true!
The CEO and most of the board has resigned form pge. Sadly they may declare bankruptcy. There is talk about making them public owned which has been shown to be a good thing with Utilities

The needle biopsy showed non-cancerous tumor cells. Problem is, he's been chewing at it and it's irritating him. So it's coming off.
My parents adopted him when he was about 3. He came from SC. Whoever had him as a pup home docked his tail so it looks awful. There wouldn't be enough skin to properly close the incision so we're going to dock back one joint then close. It'll take the tumor and will look lots better. He goes in in 12 days.
I'll get pathology on the tumor to know for sure what it is.

Awww! Poor guy. Glad its not cancerous!

One of the nails in the UK coffin was privatising the utility companies.
