BYC Café

Hi all! Long time no talk! Heat wave has been kicking my butt. Having to refill waterers 3-4 times a day. The ducks just run out to the lake and I haven’t had to change their water. Piggy Sue is menstruating and is grumpy. My DB wants to go to the pool daily, my DS is always headed into Linton, and I am sitting on my deck in the evenings drinking some nice and cool sweet tea. Our garden went to pot this year too. Too much rain. Only thing left are the radishes, carrots, squash, and pumpkins.
I am sorry about the heat wave so many are getting!

I hope you all have some type of AC or cooler with temps over 100

My radishes never produced anything, they just got leggy.

We have central AC so it’s fine in the house. I’m usually doing something outside though.

We’ve never had issues with radishes but we always do with lettuce and cabbage. Damn rabbits.

The bugs eat the cabbage. My garden is fenced so no rabbit problems there , but they do eat my flowers.

It is a good idea when it is that hot to follow the siesta pattern-- work in the morning and take a long break in the noon hour. Try to do more outside activities when it is under 90 in the late afternoon or evening.

And stay hydrated! You can drink a lot of water in the heat...Quarts to gallons LOL!
