BYC Café

At the Medical clinic I use, gets a constant stream of residents. The first year ones usually need help from the faculty. But, it seems like those from other countries are VERY UP on their knowledge- both genders. They also listen to what the patient has to say.

Problem is they graduate after their third year and never seen again. Many return to their homeland.

That makes sense, seems like it’s mostly about the money here :/ they probably teach more/better stuff there.

Aw well hopefully some of them stay?

Thanks for another round of coffee. We hauled two loads of juniper slash to the sort yard today for a neighbor. The juniper fought back the whole way, nasty pokey stuff.
Now we have a gully washer bearing down on us and I assume it will have some hail in it.
Temp 72 and dropping fast. Woot!

Apparently there are hundreds if not thousands of types of mosquitoes.
I've killed a bout 30 today with a fly swat.
But, the type I've been killing are reasonably easy to see and the advantage, if there is such athing when it comes to mosquitoes is they settle on walls etc for long peroids of time.
I have in my house one mosquito that is a different type. I'ts about half the size of the usual type here and it doesn't seem to settle unless it's feeding. It also flies faster and seems to land and walk. This little fecker is a monster. It's been here three days and has bitten me 12 times. It attacks me when I sit at the computer. Because it's smaller and lighter you rend not to feel it land, particularity not on your hands or legs. I've searched everywhere for it. It's just flown past me between me and the computer screen!!
I'm going to have to get a spray. This one is driving me insane.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister in law, Dobie. Family can really surprise you sometimes and not in a good way. Lucky your husband has you to do what is right and not what is convenient.

Yeah, well... I call him DH. It's easier than BF. No 65 year old man should be referred to as BF. And we've been together for nearly 12 years. I was married once. Very much picked the wrong guy and I don't intend to go through that again. So his sister is his to deal with. He did not choose to live with her. He's with me and I'm the one taking care of him.

THIS ! You are your husband's advocate. :hugs

"Friends are the family we make for ourselves."

You have no idea just how true that is for me!

I'm sorry but I laughed me arse off when I read this! I've been there so I could really relate.

His sister has zero say in this. I'm sorry! :hugsIts a hard enough situation without their 'help'. Maybe after the trip they will realize they need to talk directly to you more. :fl

Absolutely! His kids are much more supportive and they talk directly with me. And it was his son who was the first to ask how I was doing. I swear it's so much harder for the caretaker than the care takee.

It took the doctors 3yrs to diagnose my dad with severe diabetes. His identical twin brother had it for years & died from diabetes related complications. It should've been the very first thing they looked for.

Sometimes, bringing a 2x4 with a nail it to the Dr appointment gets their attention and makes them listen!
DH's new PCP is AWESOME. He listens to me and really seems to care. His former PCP didn't. DH really liked him and he was a great person, but I didn't like that he wouldn't listen to me about DHs condition.

That’s awful! I hate to say it but I feel like a lot of doctors are still unfortunately quite sexist.:hmm They think the female’s just making it up and/or being dramatic or something. :/ not all of them of course but quite a few. Course some women doctors can suck too. But it seems quite common from what I’ve heard for doctors to not believe women. And sometimes it ends up being a quite serious health problem too :/

My 'floating friends' are coming to visit tomorrow!! They live on a small house boat in Jacksonville, FL. They sailed this boat down from Cayuga Lake, in Ithaca NY, in 2010. They've also sailed it across the Caribbean and spent about 1.5 years island hopping before coming back to the mainland. I haven't seen Frank since December 2011 and Denise since July 2017.
So we spent the day tidying up the yard. A very much overdue exercise. Yowee wowee is it HOT out!! My armpits are sticking together. I hate that feeling. Came it to cool off and putter around inside.

On a sad note, Fabio did not do any laundry and was forced to wear his Pissy Pants today. He did make a half hearted jump at me. He was mad at me for mowing inside the pen, weed trimming and using the driver to remove the remnants of the old run.
I plopped down in the chair in the run for some chicken time and his very gently pecked my finger. So, me being me, I kept trying to pet him. He kept backing up and pecking at my hand harder and harder each time. So I hoisted him up on my lap and petted the ever loving crap out of him!! He settled down, hopped off to tend to some manly rooster stuff and then happily ate some pieces of apple from my hand when I came back with a treat for him. He's so hormonal he's worse than Astrid in the broody breaker.

Worst doctor I've ever had was a woman. Not certain I've had a 'best', but my cardiologist and my dermatologist seem okay - my GP, not so much.

I've had several lousy women doctors. My hands down best doctor was a man. Of course, he retired.
The local neurologist we were referred to was the absolute WORST. I honestly had to hold myself back one day after on of DHs appointments. The man was utterly useless.

And sometimes it ends up being a quite serious health problem too :/

I would consider not diagnosing Alzheimer's missing a pretty serious health problem.
