I don't know...but whether random or on purpose, it was nice to see it there after all the work you did.

X2 Tonya, Congratulations!!!:clap

Well, thanks.
The work was only difficult because of the Inspector. My motivation was also flagging as the whole thing should have been wrapped up at least 5 weeks before it was.
And I still don't have the windows done! :th

I lost a hen this AM, well kinda. She is dressed out and resting for 3 days...
I saved today's egg and she was obviously one of my good layers but not so smart. We are on coyote watch here, DH ran the thing down and it dropped the hen. Not what I wanted to do before 7:30 and proper coffee intake!
Thankfully we don't have much in the way of daytime ground predators here. :hugs
Do you usually eat the ones that get predated if you can find them?
I've done it once and felt bad about it. It's completely irrational given I'll kill and eat one and I'm just another predator.
I might try again. The last attempt was a long time ago.

Shad, good luck finding your hen.
Are hawks protected there too?
Unsurprisingly the law isn't very clear on this. There are 'amendments' for the national park. You are not allowed to hunt, or trap them. You are allowed to take 'reasonable measure' to protect your animals including killing a predator caught in the act.
The parks here North of Barcelona are trying to build up the wildlife population. During the civil war the wildlife got pretty much hunted to extinction by the retreating anti fascist army who head into this area on their way to the French border.
The goshawk we have here doesn't seem much like the common hawks in the US. For example, it doesn't hover in the sky and strike. It has a high altitude recon and then settles on a branch in the woods. The attack is usually very low and they are expert fliers through the trees; amazing given a wingspan of up to 1.3 meters. They will also hunt from the ground. Just seeing one in attack mode is pretty difficult. They are incredibly fast. So, the chances of being there with the right kit to take down a hawk are pretty thin. You stand a much better chance after they've made the strike but normally it's too late then and it's retribution rather than defense.

"This is why we can't have nice stuff!"

Mornin', y'all!:frow

Business as usual on the crazy train that is my life . . . .

As many of you know from my posts on another thread, my mother has been in the hospital off and on for about the last month. A couple of weeks ago, my parents gave me my mother's car (a 2006 Buick Lucerne). Gads, talk about a bittersweet gift. :thWe needed another car here, but . . . :hitThough my parents had in mind that it would be my car, my son has mostly been the one driving it (I think it would be something close to sacrilege to do to it what I do to my Explorer; I almost feel like I need to get dressed up just to get in it!). "Lucy" apparently needs to fit in here, though. A few days ago, the mechanism for the rear passenger side power window broke. Son would have paid for taking it to be fixed, but DH insisted that son could fix it himself. When son adamantly refused to even try, Hubby took a crack at it. After spending all afternoon messing about, he discovered that he did need to order the part that the body shop said needed to be replaced, so the door is in a state of partial disassembly and the window is braced/taped up until the part gets here (I just hope Hubby can still remember how it all goes back together!) I wanted to drive the Lucerne when I go to visit my folks tomorrow (it gets almost double the gas mileage that the Explorer does on the highway, besides being a much more comfortable ride). Besides, who could resist saying, "Lucy! We're home!" on arrival?:gigBut how do I hide the messed up window from my family?:idunno

Sorry to read about your mother Bunny. :hugs I thought of you just the other day when I saw this thread...thought you might enjoy seeing the mini App:

Sorry about the loss Margie. Hopefully the rest of the day will be quieter.

Just trying to look for the missing hen scrambling up and down the banks has left me soaked in sweat.:(

No luck finding her yet?
