How nerve wracking!

I know, I was out looking with the flashlight. I have one rooster that stays out all the time and he manages to survive. Hoping she roosted up high somewhere.

Those are cool to see! I don't think we have them in WY (at least I haven't seen them). But our mosquitos are almost that size

If she is, I won't be letting her out any time soon. What is wrong with cochins anyway? My LF cochins won't even leave the coop to go in the run!

During the periods when I've had chickens roosting in the trees overnight, not one got taken by a predator. If it were just up to me I would let the pro tree huggers here roost in the trees on a permanent basis. Apart from the possibility of predation there would seem to be many benefits for keeper and chicken.
There is a guy in Australia I'm in contact with who has egg/roost boxes set up in a couple of trees; chicken tree houses.

Lots of Hummingbird moths out here but, they are just brown - they and real hummingbirds love the Rose of Sharon bushes.
