BYC Café

Anything that can sit in the cupboard for 2 weeks and not get moldy is questionable.

It's not ?

Brewed an afternoon pot. Killed 'Old Faithful'. Ran him right into a stump and destroyed the blade. I could replace the blade, but he's in his fifth year and stuff is due to start going bad. $300 dollar mower - never did a thing to it - 2 pulls in the spring and it starts and goes to work. Bought a second one last year - 'The Racehorse' - it will now be consigned to the rough work, and I will buy another next spring.

Oh yeah, brewed a fresh pot - have at it.
You have grass you can put a lawnmower on!?
I really wanted just a small patch of flat green grass outside my house. I did get something that looked remotely like a bit of lawn a couple of years ago. It lasted about a month.:hit

Lawn ? Entirely too much.

ATTENTION EVERYONE!

There will be complimentary spam & chez wiz sandwiches on wonderbread served all day at the café, while supplies last (which looking at the 'best by' date should be somewhere around the end of time.)

ENJOY!!!

Will the Spam be fried ? I'll bring the Gulden's mustard and tomatoes.

I am in the same spot with my mower but I only have a city yard to mow. The current mower is a cordless black and decker. I will likely get a much better new model of cordless mower

I'm going to stash this picture somewhere where I can use it for those is my hen broody, or my hen has gotten aggressive posts. It's Mel, who else. One good thing about her being broody is it's given me the chance to check her sides out for mating scratches (she's still got some lumps on one side from stitches) and some of her broken feathers are recovering.

This is Mel with two of her three. The third seems to be rather shy. The fourth egg has piped but didn't get any further.
I managed to get most of the second maternity unit knocked together today. Mel and chicks need to be outside now. Even with the rubber mat at the base of the nest box she struggling getting foot purchase. I think if Mel had been in Maternity unit 1 when she sat and hatched, which allows for a bare earth floor, she would have hatched all four.
I wasn't wrong, I did hear egg cracking in Tribe 2's coop but it wasn't because of chicks.
Somebody broke an egg. This for me has been the worst thing about broodies. You have to clean up and you have to clean everything, including the underneath of the hen. It's like trying to mop shite off a blanket. If you don't clean up and at least get the hen dry underneath the eggs stick to her. That means she can't turn them. It also means when she does the egg polish with her belly the stuck egg swings about like a pendulum and of course, breaks more eggs.:he
This doesn't happen often with natural nests.
So, Mel is moving out tomorrow. Mel's mum Ruffles and Fudge have moved easily in the past. They can see the sense in it and are often out in the run a few minutes of being installed in their new home.
