BYC Café

@DobieLover did you get a solid freeze last night ? We did - picked 44 tomatoes yesterday in anticipation.

Good morning Café, and thanks Shad. Must be a craft festival kind of day. The Princess and I are going to one. It's always been an artisan sort of show/sale, and hopefully that has not changed. It feels like a waste of time to walk around looking at crap stuff.
There are two festivals here at this time of year. There is the Medieval Festival which is organised by the town committee and is basically a roaming tat outlet. There is very liitle craft and art at this one.
The youth group got tired of the rubbish on show and decided to organise an alternative festival which is for local people to display their arts and crafts. You can sell at the festival but it's mainly for viewing.and this is The Mostra de Art. Strictly translating it means the mustering of art.
It's been running three years now and it makes the medieval festival look pathetic. The one problem with it is, real craft and art costs a bit of money, sometimes a lot of money.
Some pieces cost thousands and so far the festival hasn't attracted the wealthy from Barcelona and Girona. A few people did sell stuff which is a bit of improvement on last year.

I bought a drawing, or rather an illustration. I shouldn't have spent the money really but..
There is something about this artists style that I think is wonderful. The illustrations are mainly accurate but what she does best is the colours imo.

Can we see?

I'll make some doughnuts if you share a picture of your picture :D

Ruffles took her chick home finally.:clapI've got to hand it to her, she's extremely patient with chicks and in the past she's got on with them well as the chicks establish themselves in the tribe.
Mel also tried to at least head towards the tribe coop. It all looked a bit touch and go for a moment. I must admit I've never had two mums with chicks try to return to the tribe coop on the same evening. The strategy is too take the chicks close to the coop after the others have gone in and hang around until late dusk and try to coax the chicks in.
Two mums trying to do this at the same time I couldn't see working well.
Mel was watching Ruffles take her chick in. Fortunately Mel's chicks were lagging behind and Mel was halfway between the coop and her chicks. I think she thought better of it. She went back to her chicks and they all accompanied me down to their nest coop outside my house.
I've should name Ruffles's chick now. I only name them once they've got home.
